Rakesh Mathur is an experienced banking professional with a career spanning over three decades. Rakesh served as General Manager at the Reserve Bank of India from June 1978 to June 2011, overseeing the early implementation of computerization in the banking sector and leading the computerized clearing house in Mumbai. Following this, Rakesh held the position of Senior Bank Examiner at the Central Bank of Oman from July 2011 to December 2016, where significant contributions were made to the development of banking regulations, particularly in relation to Basel III, and the creation of off-site surveillance formats for Islamic banking. Rakesh retired in December 2017 and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Panjab University.
