Mesfin H. Beshir

Mesfin H. Beshir is an accomplished community leader with extensive experience in nonprofit management and political campaigning. Currently serving as the Founder and Executive Director of the Oregon & SW Washington African Community Development Center since August 2020 and as the Founder and Executive Director of the Ethiopian Dream Center, Inc. since January 2008, Mesfin has demonstrated a commitment to supporting refugees and immigrants through various initiatives. A candidate for State Senate since February 2016, Mesfin has also played significant roles as the Founder/CEO of Central Mass Mutual Assistance Partnership and Board President of Black Aids Partnership, Inc., among other positions. Education was completed at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering was earned.

Since 1920, Friendly House has served the citizens of Arizona and those seeking to become a citizen, by providing the tools, training and support needed to attain sustaining, self-sufficiency. Our comprehensive programs include: workforce development, adult education, youth education, family and immigration legal services and mentoring. We also operate an early childhood education center and a charter school serving disadvantaged children in central - south Phoenix from K-8th grade.
