Lauren Brownlee

Deputy General Secretary at Friends Committee on National Legislation

Lauren Brownlee is an experienced educational leader currently serving as Deputy General Secretary at the Friends Committee on National Legislation since July 2022, after previously holding the role of Associate General Secretary for Community and Culture. Prior to this, Lauren was the Upper School Head at Carolina Friends School from July 2019 to June 2022 and served as a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education for the year prior. Additional experience includes directing social action at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart from August 2013 to June 2019, teaching history at Georgetown Day School for a year, and holding the positions of Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs and history teacher at Sidwell Friends School from June 2005 to August 2012. Lauren holds an MA in Global, International and Comparative History from Georgetown University and a BA in Ancient/Classical Greek Language and Literature and Classical Civilization from Wellesley College, with education completed at Sidwell Friends School.
