Russ Rivenbark

Born and raised in southeastern North Carolina, Russ maintains a strong foundation in self-reliance, family, and good barbecue! Working one summer for a local surveyor, he was immediately fascinated by the detail and precision involved with drafting civil engineering plans (by hand, no CADD!). Upon graduating from NC State, his very first work assignment in the real world was the geotechnical investigation for two sections of the “new” I-40 between Benson and Wilmington, NC. From that point he was hooked on Transportation. Since that first project, Russ has worked on a wide variety of other projects from Maryland to Florida, but it’s the transportation projects closer to home in the mid-Atlantic that are most rewarding for him. Projects like widening the I-77 bridges over the New River near Wytheville, Virginia, or the Secure Delivery Access Road at the Pentagon after 911, or the 10,000 ft. runway at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

As Transportation Program Manager for F&R, Russ crisscrosses the mid-Atlantic to stay abreast of new transportation projects, funding challenges, and long-range planning efforts for the local Departments of Transportation. In addition, Russ is involved with transportation and construction advocate organizations to stay in front of upcoming projects and industry decision-makers. F&R’s transportation staff is highly experienced and growing, and well-positioned to be a significant geotechnical player in the transportation industry.

In their spare time, Russ and his wife love to get outdoors, travel, and try to keep up with their new grandkids (two sets of twins!) that live close by.
