Darek Saunders has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as an Operations Officer at NATO from December 2001 to August 2004. Darek then worked as the Office Manager and CNC Programmer at Budrad Eng. LCC from November 2004 to August 2005. After that, they joined the United Nations as a Senior Security Officer in Crisis Management and Threat and Risk, where they worked from August 2005 to October 2010. From November 2010 to April 2015, Darek was a Strategic Analyst at Frontex before becoming the Business Intelligence, Data Analysis and GIS Team Leader on an interim basis for a few months. Darek then took on the role of Head of Analytics Sector at Frontex from November 2015 to November 2018, followed by their position as a Senior Research Officer from December 2018 to September 2019. Currently, Darek is the Head of the Border Security Observatory at Frontex.
Darek Saunders completed their Diploma in Captain Career Course from the Air Defense Academy in Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, USA in the year 2000. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics from the Military University of Technology between 1995 and 1999.
