David Bothe

David Bothe has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. David served as a Director at Frontier Economics from January 2021, where they focused on economic consulting in the energy sector, particularly in energy markets and quantitative market analysis. Prior to this, they held the role of Associate Director at Frontier Economics from January 2016 to December 2020, where they advised corporate clients, regulatory authorities, and governmental authorities across Europe. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a Manager at Frontier Economics. Before joining Frontier Economics, David worked at the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne from January 2005 to February 2008, where they headed the gas practice and conducted research and consultancy on optimization models and energy market analysis. David also lectured on energy economics and environmental economics at the institute. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Project Coordinator at Euronatur - European Nature Heritage Fund and as a Visiting Researcher at Landsvirkjun.

David Bothe attended the University of Cologne from 1994 to 2000, where they earned a degree in Economics (Dipl. Volkswirt). In 1995 and 1996, they also briefly studied Environmental Science at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. In 1999, David received a faculty certificate in Environmental Management and Politics from the Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät der Universität zu Köln. Later, in 2002 and 2003, they pursued a Dr. rer. pol. (Economics) degree with a focus on Environmental Economics from the same faculty.
