Mark Acerson has extensive experience in research and development in the chemical and scientific fields. Mark worked as a Research and Development Chemist at Frontier Specialty Chemicals Inc. from 2019 to the present. Prior to that, they were a Staff R&D Scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific from 2017 to 2019 and a Principal Scientist at Patheon from 2015 to 2017. Mark began their career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Baylor University from 2014 to 2015, where they focused on developing small molecules to modify amyloid fibrils associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Mark also conducted research on measuring the free energy of heterodimerization and discovered alternative mechanisms leading to monomerization of ALS-linked SOD1 mutant A4V.

Mark Acerson earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from Brigham Young University, where they studied from 2002 to 2009. Subsequently, they pursued further education at the same institution from 2009 to 2014, and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Organic Chemistry.
