Alexandra Zimmermann is an accomplished conservation professional with extensive experience in academia and international organizations. Currently serving as an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford since 2014, Alexandra has held leadership roles including Chair of the IUCN SSC Human-Wildlife Conflict & Coexistence Specialist Group and Director at the Centre for Conservation Diplomacy as of January 2024. Alexandra is also a Specialist Advisor for both The Royal Commission for AlUla and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and previously worked as Senior Advisor for the World Bank's Global Wildlife Program. With a strong background in conservation science, Alexandra was Head of Conservation Science at Chester Zoo from 2000 to 2018 and has contributed to various organizations including the Wildlife Conservation Society. Educational credentials include degrees from the University of Oxford, University of Kent, the University of Leeds, and specialized programs at Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School Executive Education.
