Waleed al Salem

Waleed Al Salem is a highly experienced professional in the fields of biosafety, disease control, and epidemiology, currently serving as a Senior One Health Consultant at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture since July 2020. Additional roles include Senior Disease Control Consultant to the Deputy Minister and various leadership positions at the Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia, where responsibilities have included directing the National Centre for Tropical Disease and serving as CEO of the National Health Laboratory. Academic contributions as an editor and researcher span multiple institutions, including the Journal of Parasitology and the Public Library of Science (PLOS). Waleed Al Salem holds a PhD in Tropical Medicine and has extensive experience in biocontainment and risk management, demonstrated through consultancy roles with organizations such as UNDP.
