Olya Irzak

Olya Irzak has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Olya is the Founder and CEO of Frost Methane Labs since April 2019. Olya is also a Board Member at Terraformation Inc. from September 2021. Previously, they served as an Advisor at Strong Atomics from June 2017 to August 2019. Olya was also a System Architect at Off.Grid:Electric from June 2017 to October 2018. Olya worked on early-stage projects focusing on climate change at X, the moonshot factory, from January 2016 to May 2017, where they contributed to the development of projects such as residential geothermal heating and cooling (Dandelion) and utility-scale storage in molten salt (Malta Inc). Before that, they had a role as a Tech Lead and Software Engineer at Google Energy, where they worked on prototypes for a smart grid with a high penetration of renewable energy from August 2012 to February 2016. Olya also has experience as a Lecturer for CSC350 - Operating Systems at the University of Toronto in early 2011. Olya started their career as a Research Assistant and Software Engineering Intern at PARC in 2008. Before that, they worked as a Research Assistant at EPFL, where they contributed to a project on Loss and Delay Accountability for the Internet. Olya's early experience includes working as a Software Developer at Microsoft, where they were involved in developing the backend for the BitLocker harddrive repartition tool.

Olya Irzak has obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a focus on Optimization from the University of Waterloo. Furthermore, they have pursued studies in Computer Science at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne), although the specific degree obtained is not mentioned. Additionally, Olya has completed a Masters in Computer Science at the University of Toronto.
