Russ Courtney is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in media relations and journalism. Currently serving as Senior Manager for Media Relations, Social Media, and Issues Management at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) since January 2022, Russ previously held the role of Communications Manager at the Canadian Red Cross from May 2021 to December 2021. An accomplished news anchor, Russ spent a decade at CFRB 1010 AM, where innovative approaches to communication led to recognition in the broadcasting industry. Earlier roles include anchoring and reporting positions at Blackburn Radio Inc. and Newstalk 1290 CJBK, as well as various announcer and reporting roles at Rogers Communications. Russ holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from Western University and a Broadcast Journalism diploma from Fanshawe College.
Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA)
The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) is a new, independent regulatory agency created to improve consumer and pension plan beneficiary protections in Ontario. FSRA was established to replace the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) and the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO). The agency is flexible, self-funded and designed to respond rapidly to an evolving commercial and consumer environment.
