Jean-Michel van Cottem

Jean-Michel Van Cottem has extensive experience in the legal and financial sectors, currently serving as a Senior Advisor and Director, Head of Legal and Economics at FSMA since May 2011. Prior to this role, Jean-Michel held various positions at The Banking, Finance and Insurance Commission from February 1996 to April 2011, including Deputy Director of the Market Department and involvement in the Legal Department. Between January 1990 and February 1996, Jean-Michel worked as Legal Counsel at Interventiefonds van de beursvennootschappen - Caisse d'intervention des sociétés de bourse, and from October 1982 to December 1989, practiced as an Attorney at Law. Jean-Michel holds a Licence in Law from Université catholique de Louvain, an Executive Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, and a Candidature in Law from UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles.
