Omid Taghavian

Principal Scientist at FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific

Omid Taghavian has significant work experience in the field of vaccine development and protein microarray research. Omid started their career as a Research Associate at RWTH Aachen University in 2006, where they focused on the production of a subunit vaccine for chickens and the development of monoclonal antibodies. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, where they designed and developed subunit vaccines against various viruses and conducted antibody generation and screening.

In 2015, Omid Taghavian joined UC Irvine School of Medicine as an Associate Specialist. During this time, they developed a protein microarray platform and implemented immunoassays to investigate immune responses against pathogens. Omid also played a crucial role in the design and production of protein array chips for biomarker and vaccine discovery research.

In 2018, Taghavian moved to the Vaccine Research & Development Center, where they served as a Project Scientist. Their responsibilities included developing nano-particulate vaccines for infectious diseases, establishing rapid protein antigen screening methods, and training students and collaborators in vaccine and protein microarray development.

Currently, Omid Taghavian is employed at FUJIFILM Irvine Scientific as a Senior Scientist II. Omid previously held the role of Principal Scientist. The details of their work in this position are not provided in the given information.

Omid Taghavian has an extensive education history spanning across multiple institutions. In 2003, they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biotechnology from the University of Tehran, where they studied for two years until 2005. Following this, Omid pursued their academic career at RWTH Aachen University, starting in 2006 and culminating in 2013 when they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biotechnology. More recently, in 2017, they attended the University of California, Irvine Division of Continuing Education, where they obtained a UCI certificate in Project Management in 2018.

Aside from their formal education, Omid Taghavian has also acquired additional certifications. In 2018, they earned a certification in "Introduction to Python for Data Science" from DataCamp. In 2017, they completed Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) training at UC Irvine. Furthermore, in 2012, Omid completed a course on "Vaccine Trials: Methods and Best Practices" through Coursera.
