Ilyas Singec has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of stem cell research and scientific leadership. Ilyas currently holds the position of Chief Scientific Officer at FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics, starting in September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from 2015 to 2022, serving as the Head of Stem Cell Research at NIH/NCATS.
In 2015, Singec founded their own company, StemCells To Drugs, LLC, where they served as Founder and CEO until September of the same year. Before that, they worked at Pfizer as a Senior Principal Scientist, Lab Head, and Head of Cell Technologies from 2012 to 2014.
Singec gained valuable experience at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, where they held multiple roles. Ilyas served as the Director of Cell Reprogramming from 2009 to 2012 and as a Postdoctoral Associate from 2005 to 2009. Prior to joining Sanford-Burnham, they worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at the National Institutes of Health from 2004 to 2005.
Beginning their career as a Neuropathologist and Scientist at the Institute of Anatomy & Cell Biology, Dept. of Neuropathology, University of Freiburg/Germany in 2001, Singec has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and expertise in their field.
Ilyas Singec obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine from the University of Bonn/Germany, graduating in 1996. Following this, they pursued further studies at the University of Freiburg/Germany from 1996 to 2004. During this period, they completed an MD and Doctorate (PhD) degree with a focus on Neurobiology & Neuropathology.
