Shawn Decker PhD

Shawn Decker, PhD has a diverse work experience in various companies and educational institutions. Shawn currently works as a Research Scientist at Fujimi Corporation since June 2019. Prior to that, they held roles at Oregon State University, including a Courtesy Faculty Appointment from December 2018 to June 2019 and a Faculty Research Associate from September 2017 to December 2018. Shawn also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Oregon State University from September 2012 to June 2017, where they conducted scientific experiments, analyzed data, and wrote technical reports. During their time at the university, they also served as an Informal Science Education Fellow from September 2013 to September 2015, coordinating outreach events and designing scientific demonstrations for public engagement. Additionally, they worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from September 2011 to September 2012. Before their academic roles, Shawn worked as an Analytical Chemistry Technician at Purity Labs from January 2011 to July 2011. Shawn was responsible for nutritional analysis and sample preparation for GC-MS and ICP-MS. Prior to their academic and industry roles, Shawn served in the US Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class from January 2001 to January 2006, where they conducted analysis and produced reports for command personnel during deployments supporting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Shawn Decker PhD completed their education with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry from Western Oregon University, attending from 2006 to 2010. Shawn further pursued their studies at Oregon State University, from 2011 to 2017, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry.
