VP, Engineering & Growth at Fulcrum Bioenergy

Mr Jim Stonecipher is Fulcrum BioEnergy’s (“Fulcrum”) Vice President of Engineering and Growth being the first person to fill that role since its inception in February 2023. As Vice President of Engineering and Growth, Mr. Stonecipher works closely with the Business Development Team to develop, engineer, and execute Fulcrum’s pipeline of facilities to grow the business in the US as well as abroad. Mr. Stonecipher is also a key member of the executive team working with investors on due diligence and has been involved in over $200MM in investment. His engineering team is currently focused on the next generation of Fulcrum’s unique Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) to Fuel process that will expand the new facilities production capacity 3 times over that of the first commercial facility. Prior to his current role, Mr. Stonecipher was Fulcrum’s Vice President of Engineering and Operations from May 2021 to February 2023 and successfully led the team to produce synthesis gas, also known as Syngas, on a commercial scale using MSW as well as further demonstrating for the first time in 2022, Fulcrum’s First Of A Kind (FOAK) process that turns MSW into Fischer Tropsch liquids for conversion to transportation fuels. Before that, Mr. Stonecipher was Fulcrum’s first General Manager between January 2019 and May 2021 where he established Fulcrum’s first operating management systems, shifting the company’s focus from a process and project development organization, to a business ready for success. His vision of operations spanned all aspects of a successful business from Health and Safety, People, Operational Readiness, Maintenance and Reliability, Purchasing, and the first P&L. Mr. Stonecipher successfully assembled the leadership team to implement his strategy and rapidly grew the operations team from 5 to over 100 employees. He also established Fulcrum’s first Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to monitor and manage the performance of the business driving the team in meeting the objectives.

Prior to joining Fulcrum, Mr. Stonecipher served as Air Liquide’s Operations Director for the Hydrogen/Syngas Onsites Business Unit with six facilities in California, Washington, and Texas. While at Air Liquide, Mr. Stonecipher increased the performance and profitability at his facilities delivering outstanding results to both Air Liquide as well as his customers. Having 30 years of experience in the chemicals industry, and in addition to his many years at Air Liquide, Mr. Stonecipher has worked at other global leaders such as Celanese, General Electric, and Monsanto during his career and brings over 20 years in leadership roles of engineering, operational, and project teams and has been through multiple new facility start-ups as well multiple plant revamps. Mr. Stonecipher has twice built new teams from the ground and excels at developing his people for his organization. Mr. Stonecipher obtained his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, studying there on an honors scholarship from the State of Tennessee and an M.B.A. from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt with General Electric and holds a WSET Level 2 (intermediate) wine certification.
