David Matson

Principal Scientist at Fulcrum Therapeutics

David Matson has over 20 years of experience in scientific research. David started their career at Neurogen as a Research Scientist in 1998, where they were responsible for conducting discovery and pre-clinical research in the fields of pain, anxiety, and hypnotics. David played a leading role in developing and characterizing novel behavioral models of pain, as well as troubleshooting and validating established literature assays. In 2008, they joined Amgen as a Scientist and worked as the behavioral pharmacology core team representative for four neuroscience project teams. David was responsible for designing, coordinating, executing, and analyzing behavioral experiments in rodents. During their time at Amgen, they also played a leading role in developing and characterizing novel behavioral models of pain and validating established literature assays. In 2020, they joined Fulcrum Therapeutics as a Senior Scientist and was subsequently promoted to Principal Scientist in February 2022.

David Matson completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Syracuse University from 1992 to 1996. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Research, Measurement, and Statistics at Southern Connecticut State University from 2003 to 2004.
