Vice President Drug Substance Process Development at Fulcrum Therapeutics

Helge R. has an extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Helge is currently working as the Vice President of Drug Substance Process Development at Fulcrum Therapeutics since March 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice President of Technical Operations - Small Molecules at PTC Therapeutics, Inc. from June 2020 to March 2022. Helge also worked as the Vice President and Head of Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) at Censa Pharmaceuticals Inc. in 2020.

Before joining PTC Therapeutics and Censa Pharmaceuticals, Helge R. worked as the Senior Director, Head of Strategy, Outsourcing and Innovation at Takeda (formerly Shire) from May 2019 to January 2020. Helge also gained valuable experience at Shire Pharmaceuticals, where they held the role of Senior Director, Head of Small Molecule Chemical Development from June 2014 to May 2019. In this role, they managed various CMC programs and led a team of Directors and Associate Directors.

Prior to their work at Shire Pharmaceuticals, Helge R. worked at Purdue Pharma L.P. as a Senior Manager of Chemical Process R&D from November 2007 to June 2014. Helge also has experience at AMRI (Albany Molecular Research Inc.) where they worked in the areas of Chemical Development and Medicinal Chemistry/Combinatorial Chemistry from October 2000 to October 2007.

Helge R. started their career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Boston College from September 1998 to September 2000. Helge also worked briefly as a Research Scientist at Thomson-CSF, Laboratoire Central de Recherches from April 1998 to June 1998. Overall, Helge R. has a strong background in drug substance process development, technical operations, strategy, outsourcing, and innovation within the pharmaceutical industry.

Helge R. holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany. Additionally, they have a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from FH Fresenius in Wiesbaden, Germany.
