Juan Carlos Paz Lozada MSc has a diverse work experience in the field of medical physics. Juan Carlos started their career as a Teacher of Physics and Math at The British School Cali from August 2007 to February 2010. Juan Carlos then went on to work as a Summer Intern at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in May 2012.
In August 2010, Juan Carlos joined Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY as a Student Intern in Medical Physics, where they gained experience in quality assessment for equipment used in radiation therapy. Juan Carlos also performed monthly and annual quality assurance in Varian Linear Accelerator Treatment Vaults, following AAPM TG-142 and TG-51 protocols.
From August 2010 to August 2012, Juan Carlos worked as an Assistant Radiation Safety Officer at Erie County Medical Center. Here, they were responsible for film badges distribution and collection, as well as participating in quality control for Cardiac Catheterization Labs and portable fluoroscopy units. Juan Carlos Paz Lozada then joined Fundación Valle del Lili in September 2012, where they initially worked as a Junior Medical Physicist. Juan Carlos subsequently became the Chief of Medical Physicist, a role they held from September 2015 until the present.
