Boxuan Zhong

Boxuan (Derek) Zhong is a seasoned professional in the fields of research and technology. Currently serving as a Venture Fellow at Fusion Fund since June 2024 and as a Research Scientist at Instagram from March 2022, Boxuan focuses on app ranking systems, including Feed, Threads, and Reels. Previous experience includes a Research Scientist position at Facebook, where Boxuan worked on ads ranking products, and participation in The Lighthouse Mentorship Program from August 2022 to May 2023 as a fellow. Boxuan began a research career as a Research Assistant at the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory from August 2017 to June 2020, with interests spanning machine learning, computer vision, signal processing, robotics, and reinforcement learning. Boxuan holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a minor in Mathematics from North Carolina State University, and completed a Product Manager Nanodegree at Udacity.
