Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity
Future Dreams Breast Cancer charity has three main aims: • Support • Awareness • Research The charity, founded in 2008 by Sylvie and Danielle Henry, has worked tirelessly to ensure that more people are aware of breast cancer and that no-one should have to go through breast cancer alone. It has raised over £7.6m to date and in excess of £2m has been applied to research into breast cancer. 1 in 7 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes. It is estimated that there is a diagnosis of breast cancer every ten minutes. Future Dreams wants to ensure that checking for signs of breast cancer becomes second nature. Generally, the earlier the diagnosis, the better the outcome. Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity has a number of initiatives to help support those touched by breast cancer. These include • A major donation to Breast Cancer to provide a respite centre in central London; such centre to also provide a national virtual support service; • The donation of thousands of care packages during the pandemic to breast cancer patients in hospital • A corporate education programme, designed to educate employees of all sizes of corporates, involving survivor experience and practical help in learning how to spot signs of breast cancer • A helpline provided by a breast cancer survivor, offering one-on-one support; the “Ask Amanda” service. Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity is growing and as well as supporting other breast cancer charities has started to provide direct services to this affected by this disease.
