Karen K. Burns has had a successful career in the tech and business sectors. In 2007, they began working as the Manager Project Management Office at Care Quality Commission, where they were responsible for financial governance and reporting, risk and issue management and day-to-day high level progress mapping and reporting. In 2011, they moved to Estonian Institute, where they were the Project Lead, handling the procurement of the largest cultural events database portal. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as an Independent Contractor at Abu Dhabi Film Commission, selling the Emirate as a filming destination to large Hollywood studios. In 2015, they began working at Mooncascade as the Head of Business Development, where they achieved doubled revenue growths and shifted client profiles from start-ups and SMEs to large-scale, long-term corporate clientele. In 2017, they began working at CGI as the Director of Business Development and Consulting Director of Cybersecurity. In 2021, they became an Expert Panel Member Built Environment Technology at New London Architecture and in 2022, they joined Forbes Councils as an Official Member. Most recently, in 2019, they became the CEO and Co-Founder of Fyma, a computer vision platform for the urban tech sector and public entities for gaining data and analytics from video and image feeds.
Karen K. Burns completed a Master's Degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from UCL between 2009 and 2011. Karen K. then went on to earn an MA in Film & TV from the University of Glasgow between 2005 and 2007. After that, they received a Bachelor's Degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from Queen Mary University of London between 2007 and 2009. Most recently, they obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP Law School between 2016 and 2018.
