Elyse M. has extensive work experience in the fields of research and development and quality control. Elyse began their career at Gaia Herbs in 2017 as a QC Associate, conducting testing on herbal dietary supplements and components. In this role, they also contributed to the creation and review of SOPs and performed maintenance on instruments. Elyse later transitioned to the role of Research and Development Chemist at Gaia Herbs in 2018. In this position, they focused on method development, validation, and process improvement for the analysis of botanicals and dietary supplements. Elyse utilized various analytical techniques such as HPLC-UV, ICP-MS, GC-MS, UV-Vis, NIR, and microbial methods to confirm identity, quantify quality-indicating biomarkers, and detect contaminants. Prior to their time at Gaia Herbs, they worked at Trader Joe's as a Crew Member and Produce Section Leader from 2014 to 2017. During this period, Elyse ensured a positive customer experience by maintaining clean and well-stocked shelves, operating the register, and ordering daily produce deliveries. Furthermore, Elyse gained experience in academic settings, working as a McAlister Auditorium Staff member at Furman University from 2012 to 2014 and as a Student Researcher from 2011 to 2014, conducting independent chemistry research under the guidance of various professors.
