Gregory Halperin

Ophthalmologist at Gailey Eye Clinic

Dr. Halperin was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He majored in English at Carleton College and went on to Rush Medical College at Rush University in Chicago and received his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1997.

Dr. Halperin completed an internship at St. Luke’s Medical Center/Cook County Hospital. He then began his residency in ophthalmology at Rush University St. Luke’s Medical Center. In 2001, Dr. Halperin participated in a one-year fellowship in cornea and external disease at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

In 2003, Dr. Halperin and his family moved to Bloomington, Illinois, to join Gailey Eye Clinic. Dr. Halperin has a special interest in the latest techniques of cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation, including Multifocal and Toric lens implants. He has extensive experience using ophthalmic lasers to treat diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, secondary cataracts, and other diseases of the eye. Dr. Halperin performs laser vision correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

Dr. Halperin is a medical director of the Watson-Gailey Eye Bank as well as a commissioner for John M. Scott Health Resources. Dr. Halperin is also a delegate of the Illinois State Medical Society.

In his free time, Dr. Halperin enjoys spending time with his family, running, golf, and tennis.
