Ricardo Chu

Ricardo Chu has extensive work experience in the field of IT and database administration. Ricardo is currently working as the IT Director of Technical Services at Gainesville Regional Utilities since August 2021. Prior to that, they held the role of IT Infrastructure Design and Administrator Architect at the same company from October 2020 to August 2021.

Before joining Gainesville Regional Utilities, Ricardo worked at Florida Virtual Campus for 15 years, starting as an Interim Director of Information Technology in February 2005 and ending in October 2020.

Ricardo'searlier experiences include working as a Database Administrator at Nationwide Insurance from February 2001 to August 2004, as well as at Intel from January 2000 to February 2001. Ricardo also served as a Database Administrator at Fred Meyer from September 1996 to January 2001.

Ricardo began their career at GTE Data Services as a Database Administrator from August 1990 to August 1996. Throughout their career, they have gained expertise in database administration, Oracle database administration, pl/sql development, Microstrategy administration and development, and supporting database applications on Microsoft SQL Server.

Ricardo Chu has a strong educational background in the field of computer science and cybersecurity. Ricardo completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Programming and Finance from the University of South Florida from 1985 to 1989. Most recently, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity from the University of West Florida, which they are expected to complete by 2025.

In addition to their formal education, Ricardo has obtained several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. These include the Certified Government Chief Information Officer (CGCIO) certification from CGCIO Florida in July 2023, the Learning VoIP and Unified Communications certification from LinkedIn in February 2022, the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in November 2021, the ITIL Foundation Level certification from AXELOS Global Best Practice in December 2020, and the AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals certification from Microsoft in November 2020.

Furthermore, Ricardo holds an Oracle Certified Professional certification from Oracle, which they obtained in 2003. Ricardo has also pursued the COBIT 2019 certification from ISACA, although the specific details regarding the month and year of completion are not provided.
