James Cantley has a diverse work experience in research and academia. James is currently a Reader at the University of Dundee, where they have been working since October 2022. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Lecturer at the same university from August 2019 to October 2022.
Alongside their academic positions, James is also a Co-Founder of gaitQ, a company they started in October 2019.
Before joining the University of Dundee, James worked at the University of Oxford as a Group Leader and RD Lawrence Fellow from August 2013 to August 2019.

James Cantley completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology at the University of Southampton from 1998 to 2001. James then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Taxonomy and Biodiversity (Biological Systematics) at Imperial College London from 2001 to 2002. Following this, they enrolled in UCL from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained their PhD in Diabetes.
