Phillip Choi

Phillip Choi has significant experience in the legal field, specifically in energy and project finance transactions. Phillip began their career as a Legal Intern at the U.S. Department of Justice in 2012. Phillip then worked as a Summer Associate at Vinson & Elkins and Blank Rome LLP in 2013. In 2014, Phillip joined Vinson & Elkins as an Associate Attorney, where they worked until 2015. During this time, they focused on representing clients in complex energy industry transactions, including project development, finance, and mergers and acquisitions.

In 2015, Phillip moved to Ballard Spahr LLP as an Associate Attorney. Their work there included assisting clients in the financing and development of large solar projects throughout the United States. In 2018, they transitioned to Sparkfund as a Legal Counsel, a role they held until 2021. Their responsibilities at Sparkfund included providing legal counsel and guidance to the company.

Phillip's most recent position is as the VP of Legal Affairs at Galway Sustainable Capital, Inc, which they started in May 2021.

Phillip Choi received their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Tulane University Law School, where they studied from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where they studied from 2003 to 2007.

In terms of certifications, Phillip Choi was admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals in 2016. Phillip was also admitted to practice law in the State of Texas in 2014, although they currently hold an inactive status. Additionally, they hold several certifications related to their maritime background, such as Chief Mate Unlimited Tonnage Upon Oceans, Dynamic Positioning Operator Unlimited License, and Master 1600 GRT Upon Oceans.
