Sarene Marshall

Sarene Marshall has a diverse and extensive work experience in the sustainability and environmental field. Sarene is currently serving as the Chief Sustainability Officer at Galway Sustainable Capital, Inc since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the Inter-American Development Bank from January 2018 to September 2021, where they held the position of Lead, Corporate Sustainability Program. In this role, they developed and implemented a strategic plan to reduce the Bank's environmental footprint and advised the Bank's leadership on carbon reduction goals. Sarene also created programs to increase staff and management awareness of sustainability.

Before their time at the Inter-American Development Bank, Sarene worked as an Independent Consultant in advisory services on sustainability and civic engagement from 2016 to 2018. Sarene helped shape a U.S. Federal policy platform for the Rockefeller Foundation's 100 Resilient Cities initiative.

From 2014 to 2016, Sarene served as the Executive Director of the Center for Sustainability at the Urban Land Institute. In this role, they led a team to deliver programming on climate change and sustainability for ULI's real estate industry members. Sarene also secured significant funding for various sustainability initiatives.

From 2007 to 2014, Sarene held multiple roles at The Nature Conservancy. As the Senior Advisor for Sustainability and Latin America, they spearheaded efforts to address the organization's carbon footprint and led teams in implementing green practices. During the same period, they also obtained a Master of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1997 and 1999, they were enrolled in the Executive Education Program at The Wharton School once again, this time specializing in Environmental Sustainability Leadership. Later on, in 2010, they pursued an Executive Education Program in Leadership Excellence at Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business.
