Lucy Denton

Lucy Denton has a diverse work experience spanning across various organizations. Lucy is currently serving as the Director of Communications at the Gambling Commission since July 2021. Prior to this role, they worked at the Office of the Public Guardian as the Head of Communications from November 2018 to July 2021, where they led an award-winning team and implemented innovative strategies to enhance internal and external communications.

Before joining the Office of the Public Guardian, Lucy Denton held the position of Head of Strategic Communications and Campaigns at the Government Digital Service from February 2016 to November 2018. Lucy also worked as a Digital Campaigns Manager at the Department of Health and Social Care from November 2014 to November 2015, where they successfully managed digital campaigns supporting health policies and communications. Lucy'snotable achievement during this time was leading the Ebola outbreak crisis comms campaign, which received multiple industry awards.

Lucy Denton's work experience also includes roles at the House of Commons, where they served as the Digital Engagement Manager, Education Visits Officer, and Visitor Services Administrator from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, they gained experience as a Volunteer Learning Officer at The Foundling Museum from October 2008 to February 2010.

Lucy Denton's education history begins with their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Ancient Near Eastern Studies from SOAS University of London, which they completed from 2004 to 2007. Lucy then pursued a Master of Arts (MA) in Field Archaeology from UCL, graduating in 2009. In 2011, they obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Web Design and Development from Birkbeck, University of London.

Lucy Denton's additional certifications include a Foundation Certificate in European Computer Driving License, which they earned in May 2012, and a Level 2 Qualification - Palace of Westminster from the Institute of Tourist Guiding, obtained in September 2011.

Afterwards, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Strategic Communications Leadership from The University of Huddersfield, completing it between 2018 and 2020. Most recently, in 2021 and 2022, Lucy Denton attended Coventry University to obtain a Postgraduate Certificate in Management and Leadership.
