Derek DeMaiolo has held various roles in the gaming industry since 2010. From 2010 to 2012, they were a Lead Game Design Instructor at the Information Technology Empowerment Center, a Senior Peer Mentor at Youngstown State University, and a Web Design/Graphic Design Intern at Youngstown Swish, LLC. In 2012, they became a Producer/Game Designer at Circle 1 Network, and in 2014 they were a Software Test Specialist at TechSmith Corporation. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as a Game Designer at RADD3. In 2017, they joined Age of Learning, Inc. / ABCmouse.com as a Senior Game Designer, and in 2021 they became a Sr. Manager of Game Design and Senior Game Designer at Gamefam.
Derek DeMaiolo has a diverse educational background. Derek obtained an Honors Diploma from Austintown Fitch High School in 2006. Derek then attended Youngstown State University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science with a focus in Media and Interface Design in 2010. Derek furthered their education by attending Michigan State University, where they obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Digital Media Arts and Technology in 2012. Additionally, they have obtained three certifications: Managing Talent from Coursera in March 2020, Inspiring and Motivating Individuals from Coursera in January 2020, and Serious Game Design from Michigan State University in May 2011.
