Susan Patterson Plank

Susan Patterson Plank currently serves as Vice President of Public Notice Strategic Transformation at Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK since September 2023. Previously, Susan held the position of Executive Director at the Iowa Newspaper Association from April 2016 to September 2023, where efforts focused on enhancing the newspaper industry through strategic partnerships, legislative representation, revenue generation, and training. Additional experience includes roles as Sales and Marketing Director at Customized Newspaper Advertising, and as Vice President, Marketing & West Group Marketing Director at The Des Moines Register, where strategic planning and digital initiatives were key responsibilities. Early in the career, Susan was Director of E-Business Development at MidAmerican Energy. Educational achievements include a Master of Public Administration with a focus on Leadership from Drake University and a BA in Psychology with an emphasis on business and organizational psychology from the University of Northern Iowa.
