Jim Dering

Jim Dering is a seasoned healthcare regulatory attorney currently serving as a Partner at Garfunkel Wild, PC since September 2015, where Jim also chairs the firm's Cannabis Group. Prior to this role, Jim Dering held several prominent positions, including General Counsel at the NYS Department of Health from January 2011 to August 2015, and Bureau Chief of the Health Care Bureau at the Office of the New York State Attorney General from June 2007 to December 2010. Jim Dering's experience also includes serving as a Partner at Gleason, Dunn, Walsh & O'Shea, P.C. and in various capacities at the New York State Department of Health, where key roles included Deputy General Counsel and Director of the Bureau of House Counsel. Jim Dering obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Albany Law School and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Management from Ithaca College.
