Ariel Castro-Martinez

Ariel Castro-Martinez has had a diverse range of work experiences. They began their career in 2016 as an Animal Technician at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where they worked until 2020. In 2018, they also served as a Global Cities Delegate at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. In 2020, Ariel became a Latin America Fellow at Young Australians in International Affairs, focusing on next-generation foreign policy thinking on Latin America. They later joined the Garvan Institute of Medical Research again in 2021 as a Research Assistant. In addition to their research work, Ariel has taken on various leadership roles at the Australia Latam Emerging Leaders Dialogue since 2021, including Director of El Emergente and a member of the leadership team. They have also served as an Academic Tutor at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney starting from 2022.

Ariel Castro-Martinez pursued higher education at the University of Sydney, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from 2011 to 2016. During the same period, they also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies and Philosophy. Later, in 2017 and 2018, Ariel completed their education by achieving a Master of U.S Studies degree in Political Science and Policy Studies at the University of Sydney.
