Ethar Abuhashish

Research Assistant at bit.bio

Ethar Abuhashish has a diverse range of work experience in the field of biological research. Most recently, Ethar worked as a Research Assistant II at bit.bio, where they supported a research program focused on genetic screenings and the optimization of screening processes and platforms. Prior to this, Ethar was an Erasmus+ Trainee at the University of Cambridge, where they validated a list of hits produced by CRISPR/Cas9 genetic screening regarding the role of MERCS in neurodegenerative diseases. They received training in DNA plasmid design, DNA/RNA extraction, purification, and quantification. Before that, Ethar was a Master thesis Intern at Karolinska Institutet, where they investigated synaptic dysfunction in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease and contributed to brain dissection, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy imaging, and biochemical analysis. Ethar also has experience as a Graduate Research Intern at SciLifeLab, where they performed genetic screening of zebrafish embryos related to diabetes, and as a Graduate Research Intern at Karolinska Institutet, where they worked on the development of novel molecular chaperone network modulators for Alzheimer's disease therapy. Ethar's earliest research experience was as a Research Intern at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Tanta University, where they contributed to an in vivo animal model study on Carrageenan-induced inflammation.

Ethar Abuhashish obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical Sciences from Uppsala University, which they completed from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Tanta University, where they studied from 2012 to 2017. Ethar also holds a High School Diploma in Biology/Biological Sciences from Nasr Abdel Ghafour Secondary School for Girls, which they earned from 2010 to 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Ethar Abuhashish has also obtained certifications to further enhance their skills and knowledge. Ethar completed Excel Essential Training (Microsoft 365) through LinkedIn in April 2023. Furthermore, in October 2020, they completed a certification titled "The Data Science of Healthcare, Medicine, and Public Health, with Barton Poulson" from LinkedIn.
