Matthew Long

Matthew Long is a data scientist at Gatehouse Bio since March 2021, where responsibilities include expanding a machine learning pipeline to identify small RNAs linked to disease, performing disease analyses, and developing internal R packages for automated analysis. Previously, as a data analytics administrator at Epic from January 2018 to March 2021, Matthew managed SQL Server and optimized reporting tools for hospital systems, led the development of automated system management processes, and served as a project planning lead. Experience as a graduate research assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison involved research on genome-scale metabolic models, data analysis, and undergraduate teaching. Matthew’s earlier roles included research assistant positions at Penn State University and internships at Merck and Geisinger Health System. Educational achievements include a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and dual master's and bachelor's degrees in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University.
