Principal Applied Scientist, Director of CVIP at Gauss Labs

Il-Koo Kim has a long and varied work experience. Il-Koo began their career in 2004 as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2006, they joined Samsung Electronics as a Principal Engineer and Senior Engineer. In 2013, they became a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University. In 2018, they moved to Samsung AI Center Moscow as a Principal Engineer, Dispatcher, and Coordinator. In 2021, they joined Gauss Labs as the Principal Applied Scientist and Director of CVIP.

Il-Koo Kim received their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University in 1999. Il-Koo then went on to receive their Master of Science in Signal Processing and Image Compression from the same university in 2001. Finally, in 2006, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Signal Processing and Error Resilient Video Coding from Seoul National University.
