Andy Paton is an accomplished sports management professional with extensive experience in high-performance environments. Currently serving as the Head of Teams and Operations at GB Taekwondo since December 2018, Andy has been instrumental in ensuring the quality and efficiency of the National Taekwondo Centre while overseeing the Athlete Health team. Previously, as World Class Programme Performance Manager, Andy worked to provide exceptional support for Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Prior experience includes a decade at the Rugby Football Union, where Andy held various roles including Player Development Manager for Women, focusing on establishing a robust Performance Pathway. Andy's career began in family businesses, including roles in commodities management and event hire. Andy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality and Business Management from Leeds Beckett University.

GB Taekwondo
Established in 2002, GB Taekwondo is responsible for the preparation, management and performance of British athletes at the Olympic & Paralympic Games and at World and European Championships. Based in Manchester, we manage the full time ‘World Class Performance’ programme and with the support of UK Sport and National Lottery funding, we have up to 30 athletes living in the city, and training out of the new National Taekwondo Centre in Manchester. With the further support of Sport England, we manage the national Talent Pathway programme, responsible for the development of cadet and junior athletes and their progression as members of the national squads. Our mission statement: “To provide athletes with confirmed talent, factual and logical support so that they can realise their full performance potential during Olympic Games, World and European Championships” Since winning our first World Championship gold medal in 2001, GB Taekwondo has enjoyed continued success on the international stage, notably securing our first Olympic medal at Beijing 2008 before winning gold and bronze medals at London 2012. We enjoyed record breaking success at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, with three medals in total - one of each colour.
