Laila Gurney

Chief Quality & Regulatory Officer at GE Healthcare Systems

Laila Gurney is the Chief Quality & Regulatory Officer at GE Healthcare. In this role, Laila leads the Global Quality, Regulatory, Medical, Clinical and Research team. Laila partners with leaders across businesses and regions at GE Healthcare to ensure quality and reliability of GE Healthcare products throughout the product lifecycle. She directs strategy on regulatory affairs and policy, as well as clinical and medical matters, ensuring regulatory requirements are met and products are introduced to markets around the world efficiently and effectively.

Laila joined GE Healthcare in 2008 as Director, Regulatory Affairs in Canada. Since then, Laila has held positions with expanded responsibility and scope in the Quality and Regulatory organization, spanning across the regions, products and central teams.

Prior to joining GE Healthcare, Laila spent 10 years in in vitro diagnostics with PreMD Inc., where she was responsible for Quality, Regulatory and Clinical Research and played a key role in partnerships with McNeil Consumer Healthcare and AstraZeneca. Laila was also the National Director at Cardinal Health Canada where she was responsible for Quality and Regulatory for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and natural health products in Canada.

Laila has served on the Board of Directors of RAPS since 2015 and represented industry on the Quality Systems Group of the Global Harmonization Task Force as Secretary and member from 2009-2011.

Laila has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemistry from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
