Manqian Qian

Manqian Qian has a diverse range of work experience in product design roles. Manqian recently joined Gem as a Product Designer in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Coursera from 2021 to 2022, where they partnered with cross-functional stakeholders to develop Coursera's grading strategy and led the design execution of grading vision.

From 2018 to 2020, Manqian worked at Inkling, initially as a Product Designer and later as a Senior Product Designer. During this time, they designed Inkling's new product line "Learning Pathways" and collaborated with design teammates on design optimization and UX alignment.

Before joining Inkling, they worked at Veeva Systems from 2016 to 2018 as a Product Designer, where they redesigned CRM suite applications across platforms and collaborated with cross-functional teams throughout the product development process.

From 2014 to 2015, Manqian worked at ChaiOne as an Interaction Designer, leading design projects for clients and articulating design decisions in client meetings. In 2014, they also worked at TOCA as a Designer, contributing to research reports and visualizing data and research models.

Manqian's earlier experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they collaborated on course syllabus planning, guided student projects, and assisted with design competitions and senior theses. Manqian also worked as a Design Intern at Serionix, Inc., where they illustrated product concepts and contributed to brand identity, and at Bump Nonprofit Design Studio, where they built prototypes and participated in product inspections.

Manqian Qian has a strong educational background in industrial design. They hold a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Industrial Design from the National University of Singapore. They also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Industrial and Product Design from Zhejiang University. In addition, they have obtained a certification in "Excellence in Sustainable Management and Technology" from the College of Business at the University of Illinois in April 2013.
