Shalan Billault-Lee has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. In 2019, they worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Better.com, where they utilized SQL, Postgres, Docker, AWS, Python, NumPy, and JavaScript to develop a feature leveraging AWS OCR technology. They also had teaching assistant roles at Brown University for Integrated Introduction to Computer Science (CSCI 0170) and Introduction to Computer Systems (CSCI 0330), where they graded submissions, held project hours, created assignments, and wrote autograders. In 2020, Shalan worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Myst AI, designing and building an internal REST API using SQLAlchemy, Python, MySQL, and SQLite. They also reduced expensive calls to Google Maps' API by cacheing results in an SQL table. Shalan Billault-Lee completed their high school education at The Thacher School from 2014 to 2018, earning a High School Diploma. During their time in high school, they did not have a specific field of study. In 2016 and 2017, they participated in an Intensive Advanced Chinese program at School Year Abroad (SYA). Following their high school education, Shalan attended Brown University from 2018 to 2022. Shalan pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science and graduated with this degree.
