Sophia van Hoek

Sophia van Hoek is an experienced professional in the field of cultural heritage and digital preservation. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Member in Acquisition at the Nationaal Archief since September 2022, Sophia has contributed to various projects, including the Sustainable NA working group and a thesis on balancing ecological and digital sustainability. Sophia has also been involved in translating the Rapid Assessment Model for the Digital Preservation Coalition. Additional roles include membership in the Climate Watch working group at the National Digital Stewardship Alliance since January 2024, and participation in the Green IT expert group at Netwerk Digitaal Erfgoed since January 2023. Previous positions range from a photographer and sales associate at Madurodam to various internships in education, appraisal, and preservation. Sophia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Heritage with a focus on archival studies from Reinwardt Academie, complemented by a minor from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
