Herman Zonderland is an accomplished urban designer and chief urbanist based in Amsterdam, with a career spanning from 2005 to the present. Current roles include serving as a chief urbanist for the City of Amsterdam, where key projects include Zeeburgeiland, IJburg, and the urban landscapes of Rijksmuseum and Zuidas. In addition, Herman is involved as a part-time member of the Advisory Committee on Environmental Quality for Gemeente Gouda and a guest teacher at the Academie van Bouwkunst Amsterdam. Herman's editorial contributions include the book 'Amsterdam Noir,' which explores the city's darker narratives through fifteen stories. Previous experience encompasses landscape design for Gemeente Enschede and tutoring at Riga Technical University's summer school. Herman holds a Master’s degree in Urbanism from Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from Van Hall Larenstein University.
