Koen Castelein

Koen Castelein serves as the Wethouder for Housing, Spatial Planning, Mobility, and Diversity at Gemeente Hattem since July 2022, focusing on sustainable development initiatives. Castelein holds multiple leadership roles, including chairperson positions for Noord-Veluwe Bereikbaar, BO Ruimte Kop van de Veluwe, and Hoenwaard 2030. Additionally, Castelein has been involved with D66 since 2010 in various capacities, including member of the Permanent Program Committee and Deputy Chairman & General Secretary of Regio Gelderland. Previous experience includes advisory roles and project involvement across multiple organizations, such as Corporate Queer and Provincie Overijssel, where efforts concentrated on governance and environmental law. Castelein has advanced academic qualifications, holding master's degrees in Environmental and Infrastructure Planning and Dutch law from the University of Groningen.
