Avine Fokkens-Kelder

Avine Fokkens-Kelder currently serves as the Burgemeester of Gemeente Heerenveen, a position held since October 2023. Prior to this role, Fokkens-Kelder was a Gedeputeerde at Provincie Fryslan from June 2019 to October 2023 and held the position of Voorzitter Raad van Toezicht at Regiecentrum Bescherming en Veiligheid Friesland from January 2014 to July 2019. Fokkens-Kelder also served as Fractievoorzitter VVD Fryslan from March 2015 to June 2019 and worked as a jurist at Rechtbank Leeuwarden from February 2002 to June 2019. Additional roles include participation in various boards and committees, such as Member of the Raad van Toezicht at Zorginstelling Plantein and Member of the Partijcommissie Veiligheid & Justitie for VVD. Fokkens-Kelder holds a master's degree in Nederlands recht from the University of Groningen, obtained between 1998 and 2002.
