Erwin Nijhuis

Erwin Nijhuis is an experienced legal professional specializing in environmental law and enforcement. Currently serving as a freelance jurist in environmental law at Gemeente Lochem since February 2023, Nijhuis has held a part-time role as a legal advisor at Gemeente Twenterand since 2001, with a focus on environmental law, permit processes, and legal quality assurance. In addition to running an independent legal consultancy since August 2008, Nijhuis has chaired various appeals committees across multiple municipalities, including Gemeente Berkelland and Gemeente Oost Gelre. Previous positions include freelance jurist in environmental law during the implementation of the Omgevingswet and Wkb at gemeente Oldenzaal, and a permit issuer for spatial planning at Gemeente Nederweert. Nijhuis's foundational education includes a degree in Public Administration from the University of Twente.
