Marieke Jakobsen

Marieke Jakobsen is a strategic advisor at Gemeente Terneuzen since January 2023, previously serving as a senior policy advisor at the Ministry of Justice and Security from October 2008 to January 2023. During this tenure, Marieke developed policies relating to the modernization of legal assistance and led initiatives aimed at reducing recidivism. Additional roles at the Ministry included working on victim policy and implementing judicial legislation. Marieke's earlier experience encompasses a range of positions, including a commercial staff role at Livit Orthopedie, teaching English as a volunteer in Nepal, and various research positions. Marieke holds a Master's degree in Organisation Studies and multiple Bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Cultural Studies from Tilburg University and Lund University.
