Hans Broekhuizen

Hans Broekhuizen currently serves as the Burgemeester van Twenterand since September 2020 and as a Mediator at Startmediation.nu since July 2023, specializing in mediation for various organizations and conflicts involving governmental bodies and community stakeholders. In addition to these roles, Hans holds positions as Voorzitter of the Vereniging van Mediators bij de Overheid (VMO) and the Raad van Advies MfN, as well as leading the Twentse Regietafel Asiel to address asylum seeker issues. Previous experience includes serving as a member of the daily management board for Veiligheidsregio Twente, Chairman of GGD Fryslân, and as a Wethouder in the Municipality of Heerenveen, focusing on diverse areas such as finance, public health, and culture. Educational achievements include a Mr. degree in Juridische Bestuurswetenschappen from the University of Groningen and further studies at NHL Hogeschool.
