Leon Grundstein

Leon Grundstein has more than 28 years of experience in real estate development, with over two decades of experience in the retirement industry. He founded GenCare Lifestyle with a game-changing business model to promote a healthy and robust retirement lifestyle for older adults. As a competitive athlete at the University of Michigan and a fitness enthusiast, Leon has been a long-time advocate of active lifestyles. His belief in the physical and mental benefits of such a lifestyle translates to the innovative Whole Life Living concept that has led to a comprehensive focus on a person’s wellness. Before forming GenCare Lifestyle, Leon was a co-founder and partner of Merrill Gardens, a west coast chain of retirement communities. From 1993 to 1997, he served as a principal and senior officer. Prior to that Leon was president of Gencor, Inc. and a principal in Gencor Development Inc., two companies that developed, acquired, and managed congregate care facilities for the elderly as well as other types of commercial properties.

Leon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Michigan State University. He maintains his Commercial Real Estate Brokers license in Washington State and is active in a number of local and national organizations including the American Senior Housing Association. Leon also sits on the Regional Campaign Leadership Council of Victors for Michigan, is a member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association Seattle Campaign Leadership Council, and was a past president of the University of Michigan Alumni Club of Greater Seattle. He has served as vice president and a member of the Executive Board for the Stroum Jewish Community Center, a board member of the "On the Boards" performance gallery, a past president of the board of Co-Motion Dance Company and a past committee member of Jewish Family Services Home Health Care Agency.
