Mike Hohbein

Mike Hohbein is an experienced asset manager currently overseeing Genel Energy PLC's operations in Africa, specifically in Somaliland and Morocco, since July 2019. Prior to this role, Mike served as a senior project geologist for appraisal and development campaigns in Kurdistan. With leadership experience at Ophir-Energy, Mike led teams focused on Mexico assets, global new ventures, and Asia new ventures. Prior positions include serving as a geological advisor and geophysicist at Premier Oil, BG Group, and Hess Corporation. Mike holds an MBA from Imperial College Business School, alongside a Ph.D. in deep water sedimentology and ocean circulation from Cardiff University and a master's degree in geoscience from Royal Holloway, University of London.
