Sumanta Garai, PhD, is a Drug Discovery Scientist and Project Lead with extensive experience in managing interdisciplinary teams within the pharmaceutical research and development sector. Currently a Principal Scientist at Genentech, Sumanta’s background in synthetic organic chemistry has enabled the advancement of small molecule pre-clinical candidates targeting various medical conditions. They have previously held positions at Carmot Therapeutics, the National Chemical Laboratory, and Northeastern University, contributing significantly to the development of novel therapeutics and methodologies in drug discovery. Sumanta holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the National Chemical Laboratory and a Master’s degree from Banaras Hindu University.
